Profession and professionalization

Involved projects:

The research cluster "Profession and professionalization" aims for providing elements for a theoretical foundation of early childhood education. In doing so, the research cluster pursues a conjunction of profession-theoretical research questions in terms of basic research and professionalization-theoretical research questions in terms of progressions in common practice. The current reform endeavours in the field of early childhood education need corroboration through basic research and empirically derived suggestions for future advancements. Thus, the two projects forming this research cluster provide elements of an empirically based theory on professional actions in the field of early childhood education by reconstructing the interior logic of professional interpretations and actions and by contextualizing them theoretically. The central component for such a theory is the reconstruction of the patterns of interpretation and professional practices in conjunction with observation, documentation, and diagnostic techniques.
