About us

In October 2008, the Research Association for Early Childhood Education and Development of Lower Saxony (FBE) took up employment. The Research Association is supported by the government department for science and culture of Lower Saxony and consists of eight research projects corresponding to the disciplines pedagogics, social work and psychology. The projects are situated at five university locations in Lower Saxony (Braunschweig, Göttingen, Hannover, Hildesheim, and Lüneburg). The field of research on Early Childhood Education and Development is thematically arranged in three research clusters:

1. The acquisition of preschool competencies

2. Profession and professionalization

3. Diversity

2. Funding phase 2011–2013

The Research Association is now in its second funding phase. Two of the eight research projects were completed by October 2011. Another one was completed by March 2012. The remaining five research projects are continuing until September 2013 (see Projects).

The Research Associations coordination office is located at the University of Hildesheim. It is run by Prof. Dr. Peter Cloos and Prof. Dr. Claudia Mähler and carried on by Sabine Hellmers.
